HYPNOBIRTHING
crafting positive birth experiences

An important thing to know is that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The “Hypno” part of Hypnobirthing refers to allowing yourself to drift into a deep and natural state of relaxation using techniques and tools learnt in The Positive Birth Program. Some of the tools you will learn are breathing techniques, positive affirmations, light touch and listening to music/guided mediation tracks. As well as learning the physiological process of birth, you will learn how your body and mind work harmoniously together and how to best utilise those feel-good hormones and endorphins to assist in creating a calm and positive birth experience. Hypnobirthing will help to help ease and let go of your fears around birth so that you can work with your body and baby for the best birth possible.

The Positive Birth Program also educates and empowers your birth partner, if you choose to have one, to know exactly what their role is and how they can best support you on your birthing day. They will learn how to help you during your labour, how to advocate for you if needed, how to protect your birth space and so much more! You will also both be equipped with the tools to make informed decisions that are best for both you and your baby.

Hypnobirthing Australia’s Positive Birth Program is evidence-based and one of the fastest growing childbirth education courses in Australia. ‘Hypnobirthing is as much a philosophy of birthing as it is techniques. When a mother and her birth partner are able to approach their birth without fear and with knowledge, good support, and tools for the birth – then their birthing can be a positive and empowering experience.’ (Hypnobirthing Australia™, 2021)
